Dynamic DNS Client for Afraid DNS

Dynamic DNS Service Client for Afraid DNS by JPS

Dynamic DNS is a method of automatically updating a name server in the Domain Name System, often in real time, with the active DNS configuration of its configured hostnames, addresses or other information.

Dynamic DNS providers offer a software client program that automates the discovery and registration of the client system's public IP addresses. The client program is executed on a computer or device in the private network. It connects to the DDNS provider's systems with a unique login name; the provider uses the name to link the discovered public IP address of the home network with a hostname in the domain name system. Depending on the provider, the hostname is registered within a domain owned by the provider, or within the customer's own domain name.

WhatsApp Launches Voice Messaging Known as Push-To-Talk Service in its latest Update

With all the texting that people do these days, it’s naturally taken a messaging app to re-introduce the act of using our voices to communicate.

WhatsApp, the increasingly ubiquitous global messaging app, has launched “voice messaging,” a new feature that will let users record and send audio files with one tap on their smartphones. UPDATE: WhatsApp has announced the feature on its blog; the post includes a video demo, also embedded below.

The messaging company, which has 45 employees and is based in Mountain View, Calif., confirmed a report in AllThingsD that the service would allow users to press and hold the microphone on their keyboard to send a voice message, a bit like using a walkie-talkie.

Said to be a brainchild of the US-based company's co-founder and CEO Jan Koum, the new feature allows users to just hold to record a message and release to send it.

There is also a blue blinker notification that lets users know when the message is received. In case the user decides not to send the message, a swipe to the left and the recording is deleted. All this is built into a single tap. There is also no time-length limit for the recorded messages. Also, the volume automatically switches from speaker when held at arm's length to soft when held next to an ear.

Google's Android Device Manager is clone of Apple's Find my Phone

It has taken a long time, but Android users will soon have a tool to help them locate misplaced phones and remotely wipe their data in case it’s lost or stolen.
Today, Google introduced Android Device Manager, which offers several different methods for dealing with a lost phone. With it, you can set off your phone’s ringer at maximum volume (even if your device is in silent mode) to help you try to locate it.

You can also track your device in real time on a map. Finally, it gives you the ability to remotely erase all your data in case it’s truly lost or in the hands of a thief. While this type of feature has long been available on the iPhone and Windows Phone devices, Android owners have had to use third-party apps like Phone Locator and Lookout Mobile Security to get similar features.

DropBox - File Sharing for friends

started in 2007. Since then, it is getting huge and introducing new features.
When I lost my Wordpress Hosting. I had a big question of starting again but from where. So, I decided to start with Blogger, the free Service. I customized the template according to my needs. And now I am running my www.appinstore.com using Blogger Services. Thanks to Google.

But still the problem was where to store my wordpress plugin files. So, I tried few hosting services, like mediashare, box.net etc. And in the end, I tried Dropbox. It is amazing.

Yes, Dropbox is amazing. I used it in past. And again I am coming back to it. You can share notes, music, executables, name the type of the file and you can upload to Dropbox. Best part is you can have direct link to share files. Just send the link of the files to your friend to download directly without any sign up or any thing else. You can share your whole folder with your friends by inviting on their email addresses. I remember one of my dear students, Sudarshan shared his folder with sharing the Content about Linux one year back. And guesss what it is still working.

I think for students, this is the best file hosting options. Use it for sharing, Use it for Online Backup, or anything else. You can simply download the DESKTOP software for dropbox. Tell it which folder has to be sync, It will start syncing your folders automatically. Just copy-paste the file to shared dropbox folder, it will be automatically available to friends with whom you shared this folder.

I think every student should try this service. You can share assignments easily and even can work assignments collectively. No need to send files via emails. Just copy the file to Dropbox Folder and that's it.

After Apple, now UbuntuForums.org hacked

Last week, on thursday, Apple Developer website was intruded. Apple informed via email to its members that

" Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.
In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon."
This week, it was the turn of very populor forums among Ubuntu users, one of the largest user community, UbuntuForums.org. Today morning, UbuntuForums.org administrators informed its members via email
